War Pigs

So on Friday I watched Joyeux Noël. Its about the Christmas ceasefire during World War I between the French, German and Scottish forces.

Pretty good movie.

In itself, the movie was pretty good. It was funny, sometimes sappy, but overall the story it told was presented very well. I would recommend it to people if I had the chance to.

The following is a hodgepodge of thoughts that resulted from thinking about the movie. ('Cept fer the last one)

However... there were some parts of the movie that disappointed me. Not the movie, but the people.

Then men who were involved in the ceasefire were punished and replaced. Their actions were called traitorous and people frowned upon them and couldn't understand why they did it.

Those people were punished for fraternizing with one another. Instead of killing, they celebrated and had mass together. They saw that if it werent for this war, many of them would have been good friends. They were called traitors because they simply shared a kinship with each other. The men there did not see enemies. They saw men as beaten and battered as they were who just wanted the war to end so they could see their families.

I know I've said it before but... I really think thats what we're told to do.

"Jesus never talked to a prostitute because he didnt see a prostitute. He just saw a child of God he was madly in love with."



When it comes to fighting, we are a bunch of hypocrites. We always say "violence is not the answer" yet, apparently it is. We wage war to solve our problems. I'm not really surprised.

Children shouldnt be punished for fighting in school.

See, you cant do it, but we can because... shut up.



War is basically a cycle of hate. Someone attacks you, you get revenge. You get revenge, they get pissed and get back at you. Rinse, lather, repeat.

All it takes is one side saying "Hey, guys, I'm sorry", then they proceed to comply with the demands of the other side. (Well... to a reasonable extent)

Sorta like those mangas that have the people who got epicly owned by some stupidly strong nation and have all the reasons to seek revenge and are like "Stop the cycle of haet desu by loving desu." Then they always have that person/group that always screws up their hard work of not hating... by hating.

Manga teaches you life lessons. Who woulda guessed?




What does war actually do? I mean, once you win the war its really just "Ha, I beat you so now you gotta do what I say because... thats how it works." Yaknow, I really dont think that it really solves anything.

If anything it pretty much pissess off the losing side and theyre probably so butthurt that they'll want to pewpewpew the other country in the future.

War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing.




I really, really get pissed at Kay commercials. And for that matter, Jiffy peanut butter commercials suck too.

They're always saying "Tell her 'I love you' like never before... BY BUYING HER SOMETHING REALLY EXPENSIVE RATHER THAN DOING SOMETHING THAT REQUIRES MORE THOUGHT THAN WHIPPING OUT YOUR CREDIT CARD AND SIGNING YOUR NAME. FOR SURE, THIS WILL SAY 'I LOVE YOU'."

Really? Equating love to diamonds, jewelry and, peanut butter?

Good ol' America. Teaching us the real value of love.



Long post ye. Well, not like my other posts arent redonkulously long. The people who read this are awesome. (Not as much as me though.)
