Lately I've been thinking about why I blog. It feels like sort of an obvious question, but I guess I never really got around to thinking about it. Almost a year into blogging and I question why I do it? Brilliant!
So I read over my first post to get a general idea of why I started the blog in the first place, sort of a first step to figuring out why I blog. Apparently I'm was writing this blog because it was just " to get my thoughts down on something solid" because I felt/feel that " writing is sort of a release for anybody". (I just quoted myself, how cool am I? I also did it wrong... I think. But I'm still cool r)
Probably one of the main reasons I started blogging was because some guy made a blog and he got super excited about it and was all "Duuuuuuuuuuude you should totally make a blog because blogging is cool I have a blog read it " so... it was a bit of peer pressure and a decision to take a small jump into something I didnt think would be so... I guess integral to what I think about and the way I do things.
So looking at now, I decided to look at the way I write which intimidated me a little because, well, if youve been following me along on this magical (read as: fail) journey you'd know my writing style is... not a style.
I mean, a good 90% of my posts follow a very specific procedure. Here, I'll laundry list it because I can and becase poking fun at myself is good...right?
How a majority of my posts work:
1. Intro has seemingly unrelated/actually unrelated info
2. Write it late. Reaaaal late, none of that 8PM sissy stuff. Go for the 11-2AM bloggin yo.
3. Use very small paragraphs
4. Dont proofread
5. Write it in one sitting
6. Use big words that you dont always know the meaning to (Cut down on this but still...)
7. End with a one liner and a song. In the past, end with random info in your life and then add songs.
8. Use awkward title that may or may not fit
9. Make it long. Superduper long, like a Subway sandwich.
Following this great list of things I do, there is one very specific aspect that I do add that kinda ties in with number 5. Usually the idea for the post is in my head, but its really usually... a vague idea. Hence, most, if not all my posts are done on impulse and is just one improv act.
Obviously there are downsides to writing in this style; one major one is that when I write on impulse I tend to write things I regret writing down. For the sake of watching my own progressing (And not sucking at blogging) I refuse to edit the things I regret saying...which is quite a bit.
The main reason I write these extremely awesome (you know you love 'em) posts in this fashion is because I like impulsive things and improv is just one of the greatest things ever. A smaller factor in this was that I had/have school; this specifically didnt hinder anything really, I started my homework at 11ish but I blogged (just for you guys) regardless.
The reason why improv and impulsive posts appeal to me is the things that are involved. I'm gonna breeze past the raw emotional typhoon part because it rarely happens and as I discussed before, usually ends in regret. (Raw emotional typhoon = Rage, just in case you were confused) The thing about impulse is that I believe it gives a truer sense of what youre trying to say.
Ok so ignore that small little sentence about breezing past the raw emotional typhoon (but I wont be referencing rage this time) because impulse involves raw emotion so disregarding that would be silly. I feel that when you blog on impulse like this, youre so passionate (or in my case, tired, passionate and groggy) about what youre writing about you have this sort of "pure" form of what youre trying to say.
Am I going to ignore the improv stuff?
Yes I am.
Putting that giant tangent aside, I honestly dont know the reason I blog. I cant put a definite on why I do this, because I feel like I'm doing something that I cant stop and I dunno why.
If I had to throw a shot in the dark... I guess I really just want to share things and also kinda share some stuff about me to other people that might not come up in regular conversations; in some people's cases I get to share things that they would never know because we dont talk (Which makes me sad that we dont talk guys, you know I'm talkin' bout you guys)
But all in all, I do know one thing:
The Aaron Express is still going, and it'll keep on going and going and going and going...
Numbers letters, learn to spell. Nouns and books and show and tell
